Bad Blood: The Tuskegee Syphilis Experiment. Autor: reviewessays • February 15, 2011 • Research Paper • 1,728 Words (7 Pages) • 921 Views. ANALYSIS OF THE BOOK. BAD BLOOD: THE TUSKEGEE SYPHILIS EXPERIMENT. Dr. But Facts Analisi! Bradley Moody. 22 November 2004. The book BAD BLOOD: THE TUSKEGEE SYPHILIS EXPERIMENT by ref generator, James H. Nothing But Facts Analisi! Jones was a very powerful compilation of years of astounding research, numerous interviews, and the wild swans at coole analysis, some very interesting positions on the ethical and moral issues associated with the but facts, study of human beings under the within Justice System Essay, Public Health Service (PHS). Nothing Analisi! The Tuskegee study had nothing to do with treatment . it was a nontherapeutic experiment, aimed at compiling data on the effects of the macdonalds jobs, spontaneous evolution of nothing but facts analisi, syphilis in black males (Jones pg.
2). Charles! Jones is very opinionated throughout the book; however, he carefully documents the foundation of those opinions with quotes from letters and nothing but facts, medical journals. The book allowed the cons of nafta, reader to but facts analisi, see the story, experiment from different viewpoints. This was remarkable because of the initial feelings the reader has when first hearing of the experiment. Analisi! In the beginning of the book, the descriptive of a park, reader will see clearly there has been wrong doing in nothing analisi this experiment, but somehow, Jones will transform you into asking yourself, How could this happen for so long? Many reporters wondered why the men would agree to such examination without treatment. Diversity! Jones points out the but facts, economical status of the 1930's is one where the men were eager to attend because they received so much more than what they currently had during that time period. Free medical exams, free rides to the examinations, hot meals on exam days, free treatment for swans at coole minor ailments, and analisi, a guaranteed burial stipend of a modest $50 in 1932 were all promised to the men for their involvement with these experiments (Jones pg. Within The Criminal Justice Essay! 4). The involved doctors were very good at marketing their idea to the locals as well.
During this time the nothing but facts, Rosenwald Fund was initiated by Julius Rosenwald to spleen charles baudelaire, assist in educating the African-Americans in the South by nothing, supporting the construction of no country men characters, schools for black students. Shortly after the withdrawal of the nothing analisi, Rosenwald Fund, Dr. Taliaferro Clark, who was selected by the surgeon general as the no country men characters, reviewer of the Rosenwald Fund, realized the potential of the opportunity to study Macon County Alabama's African-American males and analisi, sparked the idea of the how to write a short story, Tuskegee Study of nothing but facts analisi, Untreated Syphilis in the Negro Male. No Country Men Characters! This study was the nothing but facts analisi, longest nontherapeutic experiment on human beings in medical history (Jones pg. 91). The Wild Swans At Coole! Therefore, Jones' purpose was to nothing, document the experiment in a way that the reader would see all points of view, yet still realize without doubt, the implications of within Justice System, this study. Nothing But Facts! After reading this book, detailed notes were kept of the Criminal Justice Essay, strong boisterous points made, and but facts analisi, were later categorized. Diversity Within Justice System Essay! A majority of these points were categorized as DECEITFUL. It was apparent that Dr. Clark and analisi, Dr. Raymond Vonderlehr, Public Health Service officer selected to be in no country for old charge of the study, were both well adverse in what the public would agree to, and would not agree to.
This is evident throughout the book; however, one particular instance that stood out in my mind the most was the selling of the idea to nothing analisi, the African-Americans through the writing, use of the schools and churches. Nothing Analisi! Because of ref generator, these locations, the nothing analisi, African-American males felt safe because of the wild swans analysis, their beliefs that the church would not condone anything that would hurt them. They also looked forward to the exam days because of the nothing analisi, social gatherings and no country for old men characters, a half day away from the but facts analisi, fields (Jones pg. 69). Deceit also played a part in macdonalds jobs the selling of the study to the Plantation owners by reminding them of the nothing analisi, earlier successes against such diseases as yellow fever, typhoid fever, and cons of nafta, pellagra. The plantation owners were told that now they could even conquer Syphilis (Jones pg. 67). Analisi! Dr. Clark also took actions that were deceitful to his peers as well. Writing Of A Park! In an nothing but facts analisi article on the Rosenwald Fund's syphilis control demonstrations, he was careful to only circulate this article to people directly involved within the medical industry.
This limited the amount of Diversity within the Criminal Justice System Essay, publicity in which the analisi, ethical issues were sure to be identified (Jones pg. 77). Dr. Clark was also careful in discussing the study to Dr. J. N. Baker, the macdonalds jobs, Alabama state health officer, in analisi order to gain approval for the study (Jones pg. Writing Park! 98). Nothing But Facts Analisi! Dr. Clark had planned to complete the ref generator, study within six to eight months, which basically made treatment a pointless effort when the current treatment duration was over one year long (Jones pg. 99).
The lesson public administrators should gain from nothing analisi, reading this book is the deceitfulness that exist today. Much like Dr. Clark, many individuals who are so aggressive at a short story in an, achieving their goals, will stop at nothing to be successful in analisi achieving those goals. The Criminal System Essay! Public Administrators should pay close attention to the tasks they are involved in, and always remember to nothing analisi, step back and look at the big picture. These lessons learned are very important, especially in today's societal values of the fair and equal treatment of mankind. With the rise of the a short story in an, human rights activist, and even the animal rights activist, society is now closely looking at nothing, the moral and ethical ways we treat each other. Strengths and write story hour, Weaknesses. Jones' ability to move the reader from one viewpoint to another was simply amazing.
When the reader first begins to read the book, anger, confusion, hurt, and disbelief, are all synonymous of the feelings brought on through the words of the but facts analisi, book. But as the reader continues, they are drawn to macdonalds jobs, the many reasons illustrated so well throughout the book of how the PHS gained a vast array of but facts analisi, approval throughout the study to help justify the experimentation methods used. For Old Men Characters! Dr. Oliver Clarence Wenger, who was in charge of the Mississippi Wassermann survey, believed there was a cure, but that the cure was too costly (Jones pg. 57). The Wasserman test was a pigment fixation test that was developed in but facts analisi 1907 and the wild at coole, was instrumental in analisi identifying syphilis. Dr.
John R. Heller, a retired PHS officer who had served as the director.

If you go by your middle name, for example, you can list your name one of these ways: The same goes for nicknames. Keep in mind that some nicknames don’t exactly project professionalism, but if you are universally known by your nickname, you may want to list yourself that way on your resume. With your name, list also any professional credentials (M.D., CPA, Ph.D.) that are integral to the job you seek. SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips. Just as with most essays, the major secret to excelling on the SAT essay is to pre-plan the examples and evidence you want to use. But wait! I hear you cry. Can you do that on nothing analisi the new SAT essay? Isn’t the point of the essay that you’re supposed to how to hour, be using information from the passage in your answer, which you don’t know about ahead of time? The answer: Yes and no. While the analisi specifics of each example will obviously change, depending on macdonalds jobs the passage, the types of examples you choose to discuss (and the way you explain each example builds the author’s argument) can be defined, and thus prepared for, ahead of time.
In this article, we give you 6 good SAT essay examples you’ll be able to find in nearly every prompt the SAT throws at you. By assembling a collection of these reliable examples that can answer most prompts, you'll cut down on planning time and significantly increase the nothing amount you can write, making you able to walk into every SAT essay confident in your abilities. If you haven’t already read our introduction to the SAT essay prompt, read it now. This will give you a good idea of what the Essay SAT essay assignment looks like. Nothing But Facts. Then come back to this article. The SAT essay prompts have several important things in common: They’re all passages that try to convince the reader of the veracity of the author’s claim They’re all around the same length (650-750 words) They’re all meant to be analyzed and written about in a relatively short period of time (50 minutes) This means that you can have a pretty good idea ahead of how to story in an hour, time of what types of argument-building techniques you might see when you open the booklet on test day. The main techniques the author uses aren't going to be overly complex (like the first letter of every word spelling out a secret code), because you just don’t have the time to analyze and write about complex techniques. And because of that, you can prepare yourself with SAT essay examples that’ll be likely to found across persuasive passages about many different issues —we've provided some ideas below.
We've chosen two examples of evidence, two examples of reasoning, and two examples of stylistic/persuasive elements you can use as stellar evidence to support your thesis . Play to the features of the passage – if there are a lot of but facts analisi, facts/statistics, make sure to discuss that; if it dwells more on personal anecdotes/appeals to emotion, discuss those. For each example below, we also show you how you can use the type of evidence to support your thesis across a range of prompts. This should prove to you how effective pre-planned examples are. So, without further ado, onto our list of Diversity within Justice, multipurpose support for any SAT Essay prompt. The most basic way author builds an argument is by supporting claims with evidence . There are many different kinds of evidence author might use to support her/his point, but I'm just going to discuss the two big ones I've seen in the various official SAT Essay prompts that have been released. Nothing But Facts Analisi. These two types of evidence are Facts and Statistics and Anecdotes . Example Type #1: Facts and Statistics.
Employing statistics and facts to bolster one's argument is one of the most unassailable methods authors can use to build an argument. This argument-building technique is particularly common in essays written about scientific or social studies-related topics, where specific data and cons of nafta facts are readily available. Statistics usually show up in the form of specific numbers related to the topic at hand - maybe as percents, or maybe as a way to communicate other data. Here're a couple of examples of statistics from an official SAT essay prompt, Let There Be Dark by Paul Bogard: Example : 8 of 10 children born in the United States will never know a sky dark enough for the Milky Way. Example : In the nothing analisi United States and Western Europe, the amount of light in the sky increases an System average of about 6% every year.
Factual evidence can also be in the form of non-numerical information. Often, you'll see facts presented with references to nothing but facts, the research study, survey, expert, or other source from a short in an hour which they're drawn. Here's another example from Let There Be Dark: Example : Already the World Health Organization classifies working the night shift as a probable human carcinogen. Another form of evidence that is often used as an alternative to actual facts or statistics is the but facts analisi anecdote.
This type of evidence is ref generator, most often found in speeches or other sorts of essay prompts that are written as a personal address to the reader. An anecdote is a short story about a real person or event . When an author discusses own personal experience or personal experience of analisi, someone they know or have heard of, that's anecdotal evidence. Here's an example of (part of) an anecdote from an official SAT essay prompt that was adapted from a foreword by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter: One of the most unforgettable and humbling experiences of our lives occurred on the coastal plain. We had hoped to see caribou during our trip, but to our amazement, we witnessed the migration of tens of thousands of caribou with their newborn calves.
In a matter of macdonalds jobs, a few minutes, the but facts sweep of tundra before us became flooded with life, with the sounds of grunting animals and clicking hooves filling the air. The dramatic procession of the Porcupine caribou herd was a once-in-a-lifetime wildlife spectacle. We understand firsthand why some have described this special birthplace as “America’s Serengeti.” Even though anecdotes aren't statistics or facts, they can be powerful because it’s more relatable/interesting to the reader to read an anecdote than to be presented with dry, boring facts. People tend to put more faith in experiences if they can personally connect with the experiences (even though that doesn't actually affect how likely or not a statement is to macdonalds jobs, be true).
In the example above, rather than discussing the statistics that support the nothing analisi creation of wildlife refuges, Jimmy Carter instead uses an anecdote about cons of nafta experiencing the nothing but facts analisi wonder of the wild swans, nature to illustrate the same point - probably more effectively. By inviting the reader to experience vicariously the majesty of witnessing the but facts analisi migration of the Porcupine caribou, Carter activates the reader's empathy towards wildlife preservation and so makes it more likely that the reader will agree with him that wildlife refuges are important. All authors use reasoning to some extent, but it’s not always a major part of how the author builds her/his argument. It's not always enough just to throw out spleen charles, support for a claim – an author may choose to use reasoning to nothing but facts analisi, explain how the evidence presented actually builds the argument. Example Type #3: Counterarguments and Counterclaims. One way in which an author might use reasoning to persuade the reader to accept the claim being put forward is to discuss a counterargument, or counterclaim, to the author's main point. The discussion (and subsequent neutralization) of counterarguments is found in write story hour, prompts across all subject areas.
A counterargument or counterclaim is simply another point of view that contradicts (either fully or partially) the author's own argument. Analisi. When some might claim, however, or other contrast words and phrases show up in an essay prompt, the author is cons of nafta, likely presenting a counterclaim. Here's an analisi example of an ref generator effective presentation (and negation) of a counter claim from an nothing official SAT essay prompt, The Digital Parent Trap by Eliana Dockterman: “You could say some computer games develop creativity,” says Lucy Wurtz, an administrator at the Waldorf School in Los Altos, Calif., minutes from System Essay Silicon Valley. Analisi. “But I don’t see any benefit. How To In An Hour. Waldorf kids knit and build things and analisi paint—a lot of a short story hour, really practical and nothing analisi creative endeavors.” But it’s not that simple. While there are dangers inherent in a short story, access to nothing but facts, Facebook, new research suggests that social-networking sites also offer unprecedented learning opportunities. So how does bringing up an the wild swans at coole opposing point of view help an author build her argument? It may seem counterintuitive that discussing a counterargument actually strengthens the main argument.
However, as you can see in the brief example above, giving some space to another point of view serves to make it seem as if the discussion’s going to be more “fair.” This is still true whether the nothing author delves into the counterargument or if the author only how to write story hour briefly mentions an opposing point of view before moving on. But a true discussion of the counterargument , as is present in analisi, Dockterman's article, also shows a deeper understanding of the topic than if the article only presented a one-sided argument . And because it demonstrates that the author knows the topic well enough to macdonalds jobs, be able to see the issue from multiple sides, it means that the reader is more likely to trust that the author's claims are well-thought out and worth believing. In the nothing case of the Dockterman article, the author not only mentions the opposite point of view but also takes the time to get a quote from someone who supports the opposing viewpoint. This even-handedness makes her following claim that it's not that simple more believable, since she doesn't appear to be presenting a one-sided argument. Example Type #4: Explanation of Evidence. In some cases, the macdonalds jobs clarity with which the author links her evidence and her claims is integral to the author's argument. As the College Board Official SAT Study Guide says, Reasoning is the connective tissue that holds an argument together. It’s the “thinking” — the logic, the nothing analisi analysis — that develops the argument and cons of nafta ties the claim and evidence together. This is one of the trickier argument-building techniques to discuss (at least in my opinion), because while it is present in many essay prompts, it isn't always a major persuasive feature.
You can pretty easily identify an but facts analisi author's explanation of evidence if the author connects claims to System, support and explains it , rather than just throwing out evidence without much ceremony or linking to the claim; however, whether or not the explanation of the evidence is a major contributing factor to the author's argument is somewhat subjective. Nothing But Facts Analisi. Here's a pretty clear instance of a case where an author uses explanations of each piece of evidence she discusses to logically advance her argument (again from the Dockterman passage): And at MIT’s Education Arcade, playing the empire-building game Civilization piqued students’ interest in history and was directly linked to an improvement in the quality of their history-class reports. Unfortunately, the explanation the Official SAT Study Guide gives for macdonalds jobs how to discuss an author's reasoning is a little vague: You may decide to discuss how the author uses (or fails to use) clear, logical reasoning to draw a connection between a claim and the evidence supporting that claim. But how exactly you should go about doing this? And wh y is it persuasive to clearly explain the link between evidence and claim? In general, when an author explains the logic behind her argument or point, the reader can follow along and understand the author’s argument better (which in nothing, some cases makes it more likely the reader will agree with the cons of nafta author). In the Dockterman example above, the author clearly lays out data ( Civilization leads to improvements in nothing but facts, history class), a claim (this is how to write a short story in an hour, because of engagement with the game and nothing but facts thus the subject material), provides data that back up that claim (retention rate skyrockets when students do things for themselves), and analysis links that smaller claim to a larger concept (actively browsing pages on a computer or tablet is nothing, way more brain-stimulating than vegging out in front of the spleen charles TV). Analisi. This clear pattern of data-explanation-more data-more explanation enables the reader to follow along with Dockterman's points.
It's more persuasive because, rather than just being told Civilization leads to improvements in history and having to take it on faith, the reader is forced to reenact the thinking processes that led to the argument, engaging with the topic on a deeper level. Examples of Stylistic/Persuasive Elements. This final category of examples is the story in an top layer of analisi, argument building. The foundation of a good argument is evidence, which is cons of nafta, often explained and elucidated by reasoning, but it is often the nothing but facts analisi addition of stylistic or persuasive elements like an ironic tone or a rhetorical flourish that seals the deal. Vivid language is truly the icing on the persuasive cake.
As with explanations of evidence, vivid language can be found across all topics of cons of nafta, essay prompts (although they usually play a larger role when the passage is light on facts or logic). Vivid language is pretty easy to nothing analisi, spot - it shows itself in swans analysis, similes, metaphors, adjectives, or any words that jump out at nothing but facts you that don’t seem to have purely functional purposes . Here are a couple of charles, examples - the first is Paul Bogard again: …show that what was a very dark country as recently as the nothing analisi 1950s is now nearly covered with a blanket of macdonalds jobs, light. This example is relatively restrained, using the nothing but facts metaphor of at coole, a blanket of light to add emphasis to Bogard's discussion of light pollution. A more striking example can be found in another official SAT essay prompt, adapted from Martin Luther King, Jr.'s speech Beyond Vietnam - A Time To Break Silence: Vietnam continued to draw men and skills and money like some demonic destructive suction tube. Vivid language is an effective argument building device because it puts the reader in the author’s shoes and draws them into but facts the passage . If used in moderation, vivid language will also make the topic more interesting for the reader to read, thus engaging them further. The Wild Swans Analysis. In the excerpt taken from Martin Luther King Jr.'s speech above, the phrase demonic destructive suction tube is startling and provocative, meant to rouse the audience's indignation at the injustice and waste of the nothing analisi Vietnam war.
If King had left out the cons of nafta second part of the sentence and only said, Vietnam continued to draw men and skills and money, his point would not have had as big of an impact. Example Type #6: Direct Addresses and Appeals to the Reader. The last category I'll be discussing in this article are direct addresses and appeals to nothing analisi, the reader. These stylistic elements are found across all sorts of different passage topics, although as with the previous category, these elements usually play a larger role when the passage is light on facts or logic. Direct addresses and appeals to the reader are wordings or other stylistic devices specifically designed to write story in an hour, provoke a response (often emotional) in the reader . This category covers many different elements, from appeals to emotion to nothing but facts, rhetorical questions. Here's an example of an appeal to emotion, taken again from Martin Luther King, Jr.'s speech: Perhaps a more tragic recognition of swans at coole analysis, reality took place when it became clear to me that the war was doing far more than devastating the hopes of the poor at home.
It was sending their sons and their brothers and their husbands to fight and to but facts, die in extraordinarily high proportions relative to the rest of the population. And here's an the Criminal Justice System example of a rhetorical question (from the but facts Paul Bogard article): Who knows what this vision of the night sky might inspire in a short hour, each of us, in our children or grandchildren? Appealing to the emotions , as Martin Luther King, Jr. does in nothing but facts, his speech, is an alternate route to cons of nafta, persuasion, as it causes readers to emotionally (rather than logically) agree with the author . By describing how the war was causing their sons and their brothers and their husbands to fight and die, King reminds the reader of the terrible costs of war, playing upon their emotions to get them to but facts analisi, agree that the Vietnam War is a mistake, particularly for the poor. Rhetorical questions , on the other hand, get the cons of nafta readers to step into the author's world. By reading and thinking about the author's question, the reader engages with the topic on a deeper level than if the reader were just given a statement of what the author thinks . In the case of the Bogard example above, the rhetorical question draws the reader into thinking about nothing analisi his/her descendants, a group of people for whom the reader (presumably) only wishes the best, which then puts the reader into a positive mood (assuming the reader likes his/her descendants). As you can see, these examples of different argumentative techniques can be extracted from a lot of different article types for a wide range of topics . This is because the examples themselves are so meaningful and complex that they can be used to discuss a lot of issues. The main point is, you don't have to wait until you see the macdonalds jobs prompt to develop an arsenal of types of argument-building techniques you can use to support your points. Instead, preparing beforehand how you’ll discuss these techniques will save you a lot of time and anxiety when the nothing analisi test rolls around . How to Keep Good Teachers Motivated. This week, Education World's Principal Files team chats about what they do to keep good teachers motivated. What special things do they do to inspire teachers to keep learning and improving their skills? What do they do to keep up staff morale and make their schools fun places to work? Our principal team shares their best ideas for encouraging teachers to nothing but facts analisi keep on plugging. Included: More than two dozen practical ideas for keeping teachers motivated. Given the state of school budgets, it is extremely difficult for most principals to do substantial things to motivate and inspire teachers. But sometimes little things can make an even bigger difference!
That's why Education World recently asked our Principal Files principals to share with us some of their best ideas for keeping teachers motivated. As usual, our principals responded with dozens of practical ideas. This month's P-Files question reminded principal Les Potter about Robert Greenleaf, author of Servant Leadership. Greenleaf's idea is that administrators need to serve the worker, explained Potter. At our school we try to do that. We work hard at swans at coole analysis, making things less difficult and nothing, complicated.
We try to the Criminal System cut down the amount of nothing analisi paperwork our faculty must do, limit the number of staff meetings, streamline procedures. Administrators at Potter's school try to write in an show teachers every day that they care in nothing analisi many ways. We have an open-door policy, they see us picking up trash and cleaning cafeteria tables, we arrive on campus before they do and cons of nafta, we are here when they leave, and we do not have designated parking or other perks sometimes associated with management, Potter said. Administrators always have to but facts analisi put aside their own issues and do what is the wild swans analysis, best for analisi, students and staff in a caring and ref generator, sensitive way. But Facts? We try not to say no to teachers, and we always treat them as adults. Principal Tony Pallija agrees. He and how to hour, the rest of his administrative team try to do lots of special things for but facts, the entire staff -- from ref generator, special little gifts to Cookie Day.
We try to pretend we are at IBM -- we treat everyone as a professional and we celebrate whenever we can, said Pallija. The material things are nice, but I have a motto that I try to nothing live by baudelaire, each day: My job as principal is to make the teacher's job easier, better, so they can teach and students can learn. Developing a positive school climate is critical to an effective school, added Les Potter. Morale is a very tentative issue. Analisi? You can do 99 things right and at coole, make one mistake that will shoot morale forever. RECOGNIZING THOSE WHO GO ABOVE AND BEYOND! All teachers yearn for reassurance that they are doing a good job. Most principals recognize teachers' efforts by offering positive feedback -- both publicly and analisi, privately. Weekly memos or e-mails, and macdonalds jobs, regular staff meetings, are the perfect forums for recognizing special contributions that teachers or other staff members make. Principal Jeff Castle includes such recognitions in but facts analisi staff memos and the wild, during a special celebration portion of each month's faculty meeting.
He also makes a special point of but facts analisi spotlighting efforts teachers make to ref generator develop projects that involve students across grade levels or with other schools. Castle hopes those special recognitions encourage others to nothing but facts analisi consider projects that extend learning outside the ref generator walls of individual classrooms. With all teachers have to nothing do, motivation is the key to keeping them focused and macdonalds jobs, feeling worthy, principal Larry Davis told Education World. Nothing But Facts? Davis reports that at each month's staff meeting at his school two teachers are awarded the Golden Apple for their above-and-beyond efforts. The neat thing about the Golden Apple is that the teachers select its recipients!
Each of the winners of this month's Golden Apples are responsible for spleen baudelaire, passing on the award to analisi another worthy teacher at next month's meeting. Many principals try to how to in an leave a little extra money in but facts analisi the budget to recognize outstanding efforts with small personal gifts such as prepaid phone cards or store gift certificates. Recently, one principal gave a phone card to swans at coole analysis a teacher who stepped in without being asked (because the principal was out of the building) and nothing but facts, took over at coole analysis, an after-school program for analisi, a teacher who was stuck in a dentist's chair having a tooth pulled. Not every school can budget for a faculty retreat, but such an write a short story effort can go a long way toward building collegiality and but facts, morale. At The American School in London, lower school principal Julie Ryan has fond memories of a two-day retreat held an baudelaire hour north of the city two years ago.
Parts of the conference center where the retreat took place dated back to the time of Elizabeth I (16th century). Retreat activities included a mix of socialization and team-building activities; analysis of the strengths and weaknesses of the school's culture; and creating essential agreements about how we want to nothing work together, Ryan told Education World. STICKY NOTES, OLYMPIC GAMES, TV STARS, MINI GRANTS, MORE! Principal Teri Stokes tries to a short in an hour observe every teacher at least two times a month. Many of those visits are unscheduled, snapshot stops. Before heading on to the but facts analisi next class, Stokes takes a moment to scribble a positive comment or two on a sticky note. On the way out of the room, she sticks that note to the door or the teacher's desk. In addition, Stokes often drops little feel-good cards or inexpensive gifts in the Criminal Justice Essay teachers' mailboxes or on their desks. Analisi? One year she provided each teacher with a Beginning-of-the-Year Survival Bag that included odds and ends, each with a special significance.
Does this sound like an idea you might want to employ? If so, you'll find some great ideas for putting together a Teachers' Survival Kit in the Education World article When All Else Fails, Turn to the Survival Kit! Principal Marie Kostick uses a snapshot observation strategy similar to the wild swans analysis the one Teri Stokes uses. In addition, she takes advantage of local television stations that reach out into the community to offers awards such as The Class Act Award or the Excellence in Teaching Award. Kostick nominates members of her staff who go beyond the analisi call of duty. Reporters from the television stations come to school to interview the teachers and present them with certificates. Each teacher is charles, then recognized in a TV spot that is broadcast several times in nothing analisi one week.
To build a strong team, principal Phil Shaman held an ref generator Educational Olympics at this school one year. Teachers were divided into but facts analisi, teams and competed in a variety of events. All events required that team members support each other to complete a task. Ref Generator? Events, planned with the support of his physical education staff, were both athletic (for example, relay events and a team table tennis match in which team members had to alternate hits) and non-athletic (such as going through a maze blindfolded). Many states and nothing, some local school districts offer reward monies for schools whose students show improvements on standardized tests. In some schools, those monies are divided among contributing staff. In other cases, that money can be used to support additional purchases for the school. At Silver Sands Middle School, staff members voted to set aside a chunk of that money for mini-grants, principal Les Potter told Education World. Staff members complete a simple form to request a mini grant that will benefit their students. 20 MORE GREAT IDEAS FOR MOTIVATING TEACHERS. Education World's Principal Files principals shared dozens of great ways to motivate teachers.
So far, we have mentioned just a handful of those ideas. Following is how to write, a list of more than 20 additional ideas presented by principals already mentioned above: Plan noon-hour lunches for all staff members several times a year. Nothing Analisi? (Don't leave out the paraprofessionals, the school secretaries, or the custodians!) Those lunches can be roving lunches in which people eat during their regularly scheduled lunch period, or they can be whole-staff lunches that kick off professional development sessions scheduled for the p.m. part of the day.
